Everyone in NSW from the Premier down is gambling with their lives stepping on to a train in Sydney. Its official, the trains are deadly, the Waterfall enquiry found. Premier Bob Carr risked his life for a media stunt by going for a train ride with his new minister for trains. The old minister? Well he's gone for a head shave.
OK it's not funny. The question is how did this mess come about? Well let's go back a few decades. Back to the good old days when the NSW Government was handing out steel contracts to BHP. The big steel giant like all steel giants needed tonnage to build smelters - big smelters. The iron ore miners needed tonnage to dig big impressive holes in the outback. Australians needed jobs for wage slaves. In their imaginative genius the NSW government made a momentous decision. They agreed to the engineering miracle of powering the Sydney train network with electricity.
Faraday would be impressed with this scheme. If you have ever been to Sydney you will know it's a big sprawling city from the coast to the Blue Mountains and beyond. Hundreds of kilometers (miles) of track had to laid and guess what? The bold bright engineers of the day decided to power the trains with overhead lines needing millions of tonnes of steel erected in the air to carry cables. Now when you look at the Sydney rail network there's a steel structure every few meters carrying power lines. These structures are rusting away in many places ready for the junk yard.
The next joke came building railway stations. Most stations go over the tracks and because of the overhead cables they need twice the number of stairs to get over the track. Going under the tracks it seems was a bit beyond the suburban engineers, or was it the need to create jobs, I'm not sure. No, disabled people were not consulted, they had to fly to get into the station. In modern times expensive engineering solutions have had to be devised to get the disabled, elderly and mums with prams up and down those steps to catch the train and get round human rights discrimination. A visit to Rooty Hill station is a real laugh, except you still have to walk up and down the steps.

In more civilized parts of the world rail engineers invented the third rail. A neat solution to powering trains. A neat solution to keep the tracks aesthetically pleasing. There is more to the train story in this country and when I get a moment I'll tell the story about an Irishman an Englishman and the rail gauge. No it's not a joke.

-Energy and Asset Technology, Inc. (EGTY) owns a global license to market
the genetically enhanced Global Cedar growth trees, with plans to
REVOLUTIONIZE the forest-timber industry.

These newly enhanced Globa| Cedar trees require only 9-12 years of growth
before they can be harvested for lumber, whereas worldwide growth time for
lumber is 30-50 years.

Other than growing at an astonishing rate, the Global Cedar has a number
of other benefits. Its natural elements make it resistant to termites, and
the lack of oils and sap found in the wood make it resistant to forest fire,
ensuring higher returns on investments.
he wood is very lightweight and strong, lighter than Poplar and over twice
as strong as Balsa, which makes it great for construction. It also has
the unique ability to regrow itself from the stump, minimizing the land and
time to replant and develop new root systems.

Based on current resources and agreements, EGTY projects revenues of $140
Million with an approximate profit margin of 40% for each 9-year cycle. With
anticipated growth, EGTY is expected to challenge Deltic Timber Corp. during
its initial 9-year cycle.

Deltic Timber Corp. currently trades at over $38.00 a share with about $153
Million in revenues. As the reputation and demand for the Global Cedar tree
continues to grow around the world EGTY believes additional multi-million
dollar agreements will be forthcoming. The Global Cedar nursery has produced
about 100,000 infant plants and is developing a production growth target of
250,000 infant plants per month.

Energy and Asset Technology is currently in negotiations with land and business
owners in New Zealand, Greece and Malaysia regarding the purchase of their popular
and profitable fast growing infant tree plants. Inquiries from the governments of
Brazil and Ecuador are also being evaluated.
